We have been involved with the optimisation of the high-speed wing shape for the A350 since the project was announced. This has involved the design of the latest engines available. We have also participated in the research and development programme on the winglet design using advanced CFD tools. Working as part of the Flight physics team, it nothing short of astounding to see the improvements realised since this project was announced. Airbus Industrie formally launched the A350 on the 7th October 2005. It will be a direct competitor to the Boeing 787.
