Increased interest in drag reduction at cruise speeds
has led to our involvement in work on the A320 involving numerical
investigations into the effects of the integration of the engine nacelle
and pylons with the wings. There has also been extensive involvement
into the effect of tip devices such as tip extensions, wingtip fences
and large winglets.

Tip
devices can have a significant effect on the structure of an aircraft.
This led us to look into the in-flight deformation of the wings under
various loading conditions and the impact that this might have on
the high- speed aerodynamic performance.
